Today in the morning, as I was listening to this song of Majrooh Sultanpuri ji, I wandered and lost in GOLDEN VOICE and memories of Lataji.
India is very fortunate to have so many jewels like Lataji , who are shining in the sky now ,giving us blessings and energy. But nobody can be compared with the great LATAJI. Lata is Lata! She is even called GAN Saraswati, Goddess of singing. World Record holder of singing many songs by single person. And only lady on this earth, in whose name more than 12 thousand songs are registered. I am a bit embarassed to write” Late” word before her name.

Lata ji was elder child of Dinanath Mangeshkar, who was born on 28th September 1929 at Indore M.P. Later on this family came to stay in Maharashtra. Her father had keen desire that Lata should become famous singer of India. Lata had proved that hundred per cent. Her songs pleased every one. Not only children, youth, couples and aged peoples also. You cannot find a person who doesnt like Lata mangeshkar’s song. Take any song sung by Lataji in 50s to 80s, you will find some positiveness, some energy in it. Through her thousands of songs Lata remains in our heart.
“Khayee hai re hamne kasam, sang rahne ki”, “O ghata savari”, “Tere bina jindagi se shikva to nahi” “Tere mere milan ki ye raina”, ” aj fir jine ki tamanna hai” these are evergreen songs we listen every time carefully.

She sang for almost 65 years which is itself a world record. She got every award for her effort of flawless singing. She got padmashree, padmavibhushan, Bharat Ratna the highest civilian award given to very few indians. I would quote lines of Majrooh in her honour.
Hamare baad ab mehfil me afsane bayan honge!
